The value pick in the Carl's Place screen range, and the one most home golfers should look at first. Tightly woven 100% heavy-duty polyester with silicone reinforcement gives a much smoother surface than the entry-level Standard screen, which translates directly into a sharper, more convincing HD picture.

Weave density is what drives image quality on an impact screen. The looser the weave, the more the projected image scatters through the gaps and the more fabric texture you see in the picture. The Preferred screen closes that weave up considerably, and the silicone reinforcement holds the fibres in position under repeated strikes so it stays that way.

It is tested against golf balls travelling up to 250 mph and rated for thousands of strikes, which puts it comfortably within reach of light commercial use as well as a home bay that gets used every day.

Step up to Premium if you want the smoothest surface available and a quieter strike, or to High-Contrast Gray if the room has real daylight in it. Preferred is the sweet spot if you want most of that picture quality without paying for the three-layer build.

This is the screen alone. It mounts to a frame you build or already own - Carl's Place recommends 1 in EMT with the outer frame 4 inches taller and wider than the screen, hung with 6 in or 9 in ball bungees, and 12 to 16 inches of clear space behind the screen so the material can stretch freely.
