Description

Bring the golf course home with the Carl’s Place DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure Kit, designed to create a polished, immersive simulator setup with a seamless projected image that extends all the way to the floor. Combining a high-quality impact screen, durable BlackStop™ enclosure and the fittings needed to build your frame, it gives you everything required to create a professional-style indoor golf space.

Designed with DIY installation in mind, Carl’s Place also provides clear guidance on the exact pipes you’ll need, or you can choose the optional Pipe Framing Kit for an easier, all-in-one setup.

A spare room, a garage bay or the end of a basement becomes a golf simulator - and you build it yourself in about an hour. Carl's Place DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure Kit supplies the impact screen, the light-blocking enclosure and every steel fitting needed to assemble the frame; you supply the pipe, or add the pre-cut Pipe Framing Kit and skip the hardware store entirely.

Four screens, one enclosure. The kit is identical whichever you choose - the same BlackStop enclosure, the same steel fittings, the same assembly. Only the impact screen changes, and it is the single biggest influence on how the projected image looks. Weave density is what drives image quality: the tighter the knit, the less the projected image scatters and the sharper the picture reads. Every screen here is rated to the same 250 mph.

  • Standard - 100% heavy-duty polyester in an open weave. The entry point, and the sensible choice for a first simulator, a kids' practice bay or a build where the budget is going into the launch monitor. The looser weave shows a little more fabric texture in the image than the others.
  • Preferred - tightly woven 100% heavy-duty polyester with silicone reinforcement. Noticeably smoother than Standard, a sharper picture, and rated for light commercial use. The configuration most home golfers should look at first.
  • Premium - three layers of tight-knit impact-resistant polyester, woven closely enough that no fabric texture shows in the image. The centre layer dampens sound so the strike lands as a thud rather than a crack, which matters more than it sounds in a basement bay under a bedroom. The three-layer stack also absorbs impact energy, which keeps bounceback down.
  • High-Contrast Gray - the same triple-layer material as Premium, finished in a light-absorbing gray. Choose it when the room has windows, downlights or any light you cannot switch off: blacks stay black and colours stay saturated in daylight. Garage and sunroom builds are exactly where it earns its money.

You can swap to a better screen later without replacing the enclosure.

Pipes: bring your own, or add the kit. The enclosure ships with every steel fitting needed to build the frame, but not the pipe itself. Choose above how you want to finish it:

  • No Pipe Framing Kit - a cut sheet comes with your order listing the exact 1 in EMT lengths and quantities for your size. Buy the pipe at any hardware store and cut it to the diagram. The cheapest route if you own a pipe cutter and do not mind the trip.
  • With Pipe Framing Kit - Carl's Place supplies the 1 in EMT pre-cut and marked to the lengths your size needs, shipped with the enclosure. No sourcing, no cutting, no measuring errors, and it arrives as one order.

The screen is engineered with a bottomless edge so the projected image runs all the way to the floor. With turf butted up to it, there is no black band across the base of the picture and the ball flies into a continuous scene - the detail that separates a home build that looks improvised from one that looks bought.

The surrounding enclosure is BlackStop fabric: a tough, light-absorbing shell that shades the screen for a brighter image and catches the shots that miss or bounce off it. Connection points are built in for Net Wall Extensions and a Back Cover if you want to close the bay in further later.

Sizing is where most first simulators go wrong. The listed size is a simplified name - check the actual outer dimensions before you buy. Carl's Place recommends 2-3 inches of buffer above and on each side of the frame, and 12 inches behind the screen (8.25 inches minimum to fit the rear fittings), so a room of at least 100 x 100 inches is the practical starting point.

Setup note: this is a DIY kit. One person can assemble it in about an hour, and no specialist tools are needed - a wrench or 1/2 in socket, a 3/16 in hex key, pliers, a rubber mallet and a step ladder. Pipe is not included in the enclosure itself - add the Pipe Framing Kit above, or use the cut sheet supplied with your order to buy and cut 1 in EMT locally.

Every enclosure is made to order, so production time varies with demand. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.
